Musings on Urban Gardening

I finally got a jump start on my urban gardening project today. The connection with Nick at the Global Detroit event was super helpful. He was very knowledgeable about what we needed to do with supports and with the seeds when the soil is compacted and of doubtful quality. I was also finally able to round up three middle schoolers and we are car pooling to get to an immigrant family (Noura's) backyard in the Hamtramck area today.

I'm very excited as we will be planting the rare "Indigo Rose tomatoes" for Noura today. I have been reading like crazy on organic gardening methods such as crop rotation and integrated Pest Management".

Update: August 31th

Look at the yummy Indigo rose tomatoes at Nick's place. They taste luscious more like a slightly tart

plum. Noora and her kids were very excited with how successful a crop yeield its been. Not quite as productive, but a great start. Tomatoes are truly the easiest by far!
